Hey all, it seems to me that there has been some discussion over the past few months about what will happen to the game when trading is introduced.
Many players believe that trading will increase cheating, lower level players levelling up much quicker, stronger player selling Pokémon for real money and so overall making the game unfair.
But what if there was a way to minimize all of this and so retain the fairness within the game?
There has been a recent suggestion that there should be penalties applied to Pokémon when traded, for instance a Pokémon once traded should dramatically weaken in strength.
This can be because the relationship that this Pokémon has with its new trainer is low, and so a trainer should be have to walk it, power it up with stardust and develop a better relationship with their new Pokémon, order to wield it at its peak.
This penalty is only an example of something Niantic can introduce to ultimately decrease the value of trades for player selling Pokémon, or attempting to cheat in other ways.
But we have to remember all the positives of trading, which there are more of compared to all the negative aspects it may bring.
Players who cannot travel overseas will have the opportunity to trade for regional exclusive Pokémon, and so finally compete their Pokedex.
Also trading amongst friends make the game more enjoyable, especially for casual gamers who can trade for rarer Pokémon they most likely don’t already have.
There are more people who seem to want trading introduced compared to the numbers that don’t, and this is because of all the benefits trading brings to the table.
However, we do need to find a way to decrease the opportunities for players to cheat as then trading can have a negative impact, rather than a positive.
That is why I believe there should be some sort of penalties applied by Niantic when trading Pokémon.
